President Recep Tayyip Erdogan fulfilled a long-held national ambition on October 29 during a ceremony held in the Gemlik district of Bursa's northern Bursa province to honor the 99th anniversary of the Turkish Republic. Togg is Turkey's first domestically-developed and fully-electric vehicle.
Togg (Turkey's Automobile Joint Venture Group), a worldwide technology brand servicing the mobility sector, was created by a coalition of five Turkish industrial behemoths in partnership with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) using a novel collaboration model.
President Erdogan said at the Togg Gemlik Facility opening ceremony, "We are seeing the realization of a 60-year-old dream as the first car rolls off the assembly line today. Therefore, Togg is the common pride of Turkey's 85 million inhabitants "adding, "The facility we are inaugurating here and the vehicle we are standing in front of are the first images of the Century of Turkey." We refer to this thing as a vehicle, whereas its manufacturers label it a smart gadget. May the Togg Gemlik Facility, where Turkish autos will be manufactured, and the smart gadgets that have rolled off the assembly line be fortunate for our country and nation."
Erdogan in December 2019, and construction on the engineering, design, and manufacturing facilities began in the middle of 2020. Turkey's vehicle will be one of the pioneers in the targeted technology transfer and occupy a unique position in the global mobility sector, as deemed by the Ministry of Industry and Technology as one of the initiatives of strategic significance for Vision 2023 objectives.
In addition to C-segment SUV and sedan models, Togg will construct one million cars in five distinct models–SUV, sedan, C-hatchback, B-SUV, and B-MPV–on a shared e-platform with complete ownership of intellectual and industrial property rights by 2030.
In recognition of the country's enchanting natural beauty, the exterior colors of the automobile were named after Turkish locations such as "Anadolu" (Anatolia), "Gemlik", "Oltu", "Kula", "Kapadokya" (Cappadocia), and "Pamukkale."
The Togg factory was constructed on a 1,200,000-square-meter plot in the Gemlik neighborhood of Bursa. Bursa is renowned as the automobile industry hub of Turkey since it is home to the production facilities of several worldwide companies, including Fiat and Renault.
